We got our second dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine on Sunday. Though our initially scheduled date was May 11, as per the recommended 70-day gap, it was advanced by a month - which is good, going by the shortage of the India-produced vaccine.
This time we had our shots at the DHA facility in Al Twar, a sleek new edifice and everything very prompt and efficient. Our inoculation appointment was at 12 noon and we were asked to reach 20 min early. So reaching at 11.40 am - which is pretty amazing by V's standards of procrastination - we got our shots by 11.50 followed by 10 minutes of observation.
I had a North African - Sudani probably - delivering the shot and it pained a bit unlike last time. I didnt really get what she told me and had to ask her to repeat whatever she said. The dilemma of comprehending English spoken by non-native speakers! Anyway, I understood that I could take Adol if I had fever.
I got a pothichor - a Malloo nostalgia for rice and side dishes packed in banana leaf plus an extra sardine fry- on the way home which me and the kids shared. The rice was too much for the three of us while the side dishes were not enough for even one person. Kochin Signature restaurant, please serve your customers sincerely or they are not likely to return. I dont think I will go there again though they gave me a glass of free payasam while I waited for my order. 😏
This time, the post-jab experience was not as uneventful as last time. I woke up 4-5 times in the night which for someone who sleeps like a log in the 5-6 hours I usually sleep (going to bed by 12.30 or 1 am) was something unusual.
The whole of yesterday I felt a bit disoriented as if I had recovered from a bout of fever, with a little loss of taste. It gave me ample excuse to cook kanji payar papad chutney for dinner.
Today I am my usual self.
p.s. The vaccination card has come, and I hope we will not need to take PCR tests for domestic travel or other purposes.
