V's relatives from RAK decided to spend the Eid weekend in Dubai, so they came on a Sunday and stayed till Tuesday and with it went phut our plans to go to Abu Dhabi (though we made a quick trip to the capital on Tuesday evening and returned by night since AD is just a 2 hour drive from here). Despite our mild warnings that Ash had to prepare for his exams and we could spare just Sunday, in the end they stayed on for 3 days. The mother of the boys (working men in fact) was a big help though she is a bit of a busy body and declared upon entering my cramped kitchen that it could do with some organising. So she cleared - with me playing assistant -all the junk I had collected around the washing machine corner (mostly polythene bags to throw garbage, and occasionally hiding a few chocolates around that area - cant give exact details as it is a trade secret). Considering that they lived in the worst possible villa - that gave you the ugh feeling the moment you stepped in - it was pretty bold of her to say my kitchen was no good. Like many Malloos who believe that one can live in any shack as long as all the money can be saved to send home, they had lived in that dilapidated - probably kept clean - setting until early this year. Anyway she was a big help in the kitchen with whatever cooking we did which was generally only breakfast while ordering from restaurants lunch or dinner. She slept in Mira's room, and Mira became extremely close to her.
We took her to Love Lake but since we couldnt find the location we drove to Global Village instead. That was fun as our cousin works there, and we sat down to have Ethiopian coffee in the Africa pavilion. Day 2, the children accompanied them to a movie and trip to the Palm islands. Day 3 night, we visited V's friend at AD stadium.
