Each event that I attend has something endearing and memorable, and brings a smile or chuckle.
Yesterday, the events were from 2-10 pm, so I was in early and took a break to call V in Kerala. I sat on a chair in workshop 3 room near the window, from where I could see the lawn, the lake and people going towards the washrooms.
I peeped out through the grey curtains even as I talked in all seriousness. Just then, two artists came into view - Saqr the Emirati boy mascot of the festival and a E. European man on stilts, both heading towards the loo. Saqr was trying to help the latter manouevre the marble floor when they saw me near the window. Both smiled and waved, and I smiled back and waved. They stood a while waving at me even as I continued chatting to V not letting him know I was distracted. I wondered if I should capture this rare moment on the other phone camera - either my reflexes didnt work fast enough or I didnt want to irritate V, so I just waved and smiled a while longer till the two men in fancy dress moved on.
The fair was well patronised on day 2, with kids and parents rushing in early to take part in Treasure Hunt and Mask making. By night, the entry gates were closed as the place was crowded. Ash was let in thanks to my intervention while Mira didnt come.
I covered the ergometer (hearing about it for the first time), the vintage cars on display, cookery and some of the workshops.
Both days I reached home at midnight, ravenous as no food was provided. The fair stalls were expensive as was to be expected, and I got a Spanish latte alone. Ash got me chicken puff when he came, so that helped for a while.
It was nice to be working inside the amphitheatre for once, and not just walking around its jogging track and marvelling at the beautiful structure and location I am lucky to be living in.
