The last week of August is full of birthdays - my bro, his son and V, and the latter two sharing the same day. While nephew had a special 10th birthday in Rajasthan - on a treehouse and a special scrapbook of memories apart from other gifts - our man had a quiet one here. V is not someone who cares for birthday celebrations though he is very particular about wishing his siblings and parents on their birthdays. F-i-l in fact likes to celebrate himself.
This time for a change we got V a plant pot (Dracena) instead of bouquets or chocolates which he doesnt need. He has developed a green thumb and was surprised and happy to receive it. I hope it lasts beyond the summer as most of our outdoor plants have withered in the sun. This will remain indoors though.
For dinner, he got us a takeaway bucket of Tamil mutton biriyani which lasted us three days until I was bored with it. Since his colleagues surprised him with a cake in office, I didnt want to buy another andget a lecture about all the fat and sweet I would be consuming. Instead, I bought a few slices - he did not taste them and so the kids happily gobbled them up.
