The best of guests

...are those who come with goodies😆

Yesterday as we were preparing appam and chicken stew for guests - rare in Covid times - Mira remarked that she always loved having guests over as that was the only time Vinod broke rules about taboo food or brought home delicacies which she had never seen. She reminisced that she would always wait for them to leave so that she could have the rest of the good food (snacks). If we didnt keep an eye on him, a 5-year-old Ash would even empty the dregs in the glass left by a guest!
For someone who disapproves frozen or junk food, V once brought packets of nuggets to serve a family with young boys. I promised Mira she could have some after they left but the boys pounced on the nuggets and the whole thing was over in no time. She confided yesterday she was heartbroken.
This time V bought cutlets, nankattai and mixture to supplement the dinner menu. Our Hindu guests raved about the appam stew, a menu that is a staple in Christian homes on special occasions.

p.s. Ash was extremely disappointed with the mango cake they brought since he doesn't eat mangoes. The rest of us had a field day. This is probably the first time we are having a mango cake as we never buy respecting Ash's dislikes.
