The Left is right

For someone who is a Congress person at heart, the victory of the LDF has been a happy occasion for me. Though it seemed a foregone conclusion with the pre-poll and exit polls predicting their return, I still had my doubts and expected vote drain and a hung Assembly. Some of the victories and leads were especially sweet - of the CM, the HM Shailaja teacher, MM Mani and Shafi Parampil  who defeated Metroman Sridharan after a close fight.

When PV assumed power in 2016 I wasnt too pleased. I felt he snatched it out of veteran leader Achuthanandan who was their campaign face. But slowly Pinarayi won our hearts - the way he appointed the best brains, the way they handled the many calamities despite a hostile Centre and his tongue-in-cheek remarks.

Let us hope PV 2.0 doesnt get too despotic and that after 2025 the Congress will return to power rejuvenated with fresh young faces and not the deadwood clinging on now.
