On one of those rare days V decided to bunk office, like today, I could take a break from kitchen duties - which is churning out rice and wheat based dishes for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Instead we had a semi keto diet without rice.
Breakfast - sweet potatoes, egg and veggies
Lunch - Chicken KFC style and garlic bread (my contribution and hence looking a bit unprofessional) Unlike V, I dont put my heart and mind into cooking, so my cooking lacks style and creativity :)
Dinner - Went out to have idlis at a newly discovered joint in Al Nahda called Fish n Idli. Though we only meant to eat little, we ended up eating like actress Philomena in a movie - because the curry was left over we ordered more idli and dosa and when the latter was left over we ordered more side dishes and in the end we were so full we needed a short night walk to let the food digest.
Eating out and shopping makes up a good part of life in the Middle East helping us forget the boredom of being in a desert and the nostalgia of life in pristine Kerala and home-made food. Food from all parts of India at very reasonable rates and good quality makes eating out a big part of our existence here. Except those who mean to save every penny to invest on a house back in India that they will not inhabit until retirement, the others like to spend their weekends visiting malls and restaurants. Like a relative whose only outing is to Lulu on Friday to buy provisions and maybe some takeaway food from the Lulu kitchen - not to mention attending Thursday night mass at the church.
p.s. Nala pachagam means cooking by a man - after some mythological character named Nala who could cook well. I think the same guy who was in love with Damayanti and used a swan to send love notes to her. I dont know if he sent his own culinary products.
