Friday before last, we chaperoned Mira to Global Village, Dubai's entertainment fair that runs for 6 months during its cooler months. This year, on an experimental basis, the GV is running for an extra month until mid-May. Her friends Sania and Riza joined her and the girls had a lot of fun on the rides and having the food they crave - Korean dishes, churros and the bubbee drink.
Me and V along with the parents of Sania whiled away our time at the stalls. We got some paintings from the Palestine pavilion - done by an Iraqi artist - and now our drawing room has a pronounced Muslim look with sufis, a veiled woman and an Iraqi street. Vinod even got a sufi cap - God knows where or when he will use it. This time we avoided our regular Africa pavilion as the house is already full of African artefacts from the previous visits. A printed table cloth from the India pavilion, honey and spices from the Yemen pavilion and a cone of peanuts at the exit completed our trip this time. The parents had food from a Turkish restaurant, which was good. Our usual haunt is the Bosnian house but the last trip to one of the Bosnian restaurants there wasn't a good experience, nor were our companions hardcore meat eaters to try their beef and lamb fares.
Vs cousin who is a facility manager at GV sponsored a couple of rides/games for the girls. Altogether Mira had a lot of fun on a day Ash sat at home to prepare for his exams.
