Young adult


Emirates emailed me today with the following message: 
Dear Customer,
As Ashwin D*** M*** has turned 18, we’ve removed your access to their account. They’ll now be able to log in through Emirates Skywards and manage their own account.

Yes, our little young man - kuttipayyan as our Chennai watchman's wife used to call him - has turned 18!! As is our practice of late, we cut a cake slice at midnight; the real cake will arrive today evening only. Though we called a couple of relatives living alone here, all are busy at work today and a niece alone is expected home. We might plan something for the absentees later. Ash also wants to meet his friends when pre-Board exams are over. 
Unfortunately, both my kids have birthdays falling in months that CBSE has reserved for exams, so they have not had fun in the way they would like.

Though Ash has had a tough childhood, especially until age 10, he has sailed on stoically. Most of our acquaintances have said he is a happy child with a positive attitude to life - probably because of ADHD according to a counsellor we met.
I hope adulthood will be easier for him.
