An event to remember

The event last Saturday evening 4-5 pm turned out to be grand and reminiscent of India's Republic Day parade. Held by the Ministry of Interior as part of the Year of the 50th celebrations, it gave us residents a chance to witness a grand spectacle graced by the Deputy Ruler of Sharjah (our dwarf building being right behind). On Thursday, we saw a trial run of the event complete with police bands, K9 squad, military squads and four helicopters carrying flags flying around the Khalid lake. At the real event, there were horses too which trotted right in front of our building on the return leg. We watched from the comfort of our home, though the view wasnt all that near. But I managed to see the royal get off his vehicle, receive the salute, and later sit for a photograph with the forces.

Next week I hope to go for a week-long assignment at the annual photography festival. Wish me luck! I dont have much clue about apertures and lighting and stuff.
