Vacation begins

Summer vacation began for the kids on Sunday (being the beginning of the work week in the Gulf when the rest of the world takes it easy) and will go on till end August. Unlike usual end of term vacays, this time most people cannot visit their native towns especially those in India.

While Indians can fly to India, they cannot return unless they are special category - golden visa holders, diplomats etc. As of now, there are no return flights till July 21. A lot of people are stuck in India, while a few desperate or resourceful ones are transiting through a third country - the rule being that those who have been in India in the last 15 days cannot land in the UAE. So people from the subcontinent have been quarantining in Armenia, Egypt, Uzbekistan etc before heading to UAE.

Although we had booked tickets to go to India end of this month, we still havent decided what to do. Still waiting for the announcement that the flight suspension will be lifted after the 21st.

Meanwhile, dear bro has decided to pay a visit on his way to India from the UK. Hoping quarantine regulations will not be too restrictive. While Dubai has been welcoming tourists, it is not clear if staying in Sharjah could be a problem.
