The kids seem a lil more homesick now. Ash has been sobbing over the phone about some perceived ailment or the other. It means that it is time to get them back and find a new live-in nanny to take care of them (as long as she lasts).
And just as I was gearing up for my third trip home this weekend to bring the kids back comes the directive from the new State government that schools will reopen on June 15 instead of June 6 since the old textbooks have to be printed again - Amma rightly says that the uniform syllabus introduced last year by the ol' man is no good and schools revert to the old syllabus for now. I am glad for I found Samacheer Kalvi, the new syllabus of the DMK government, absolutely lousy - be it Maths, English or Enviromental Studies. I hope Jayalalithaa would also do away Tamil in the primary classes.
The kids might stay put in Chry for another week if I can find tickets for the next weekend.
When a child is born, so is a mother... A working mother's growing up years with her two children.

Men at work
Seeing my dad scrub the shirt cuffs and collars before putting them in the washing machine, Ash is surprised.
"Granpa, why is a boy like you doing this?"
"What to do? Granny doesnt have the time. Doesnt your dad do it?" dad asks in return.
"No, he only works in the kitchen!"
p.s. Dr. A.S. Thambiah, the most famous of Chennai's dermatologists, passed away last week. He was in his late 80s. Although many had advised us to show Ashwin to him, we could not owing to the marathon queues at his residence since he charged a paltry fee.

Vacation
Just back from a week's vacation at my hometown. The kids are enjoying
their two-month long vacation. After a month with my parents, they
will now spend 3 weeks with their paternal grandparents.
The 2-day St. George's Day and festival at my place delighted them,
especially the night procession. Here they are with my granny, waiting
for the 'rasa' to arrive on the night of May 7.
